My Verdict:
Not many shampoos do it for me, so I was naturally skeptical about this one. I also was iffy on the topic of it not being chemically pumped with plenty a hair steroid :). Shampoos other than Dove and Pantene usually make my hair feel like a Brillo pad, not helping in the fact that my hair is dry to begin with.

This shampoo smelled super yummy, and though it did not leave my hair being super soft, it did contribute softness (am I making sense?) and cleaned my hair very well. Plus I did feel good about it being safe-er for my hair. Plus – who could resist paying $.40 for a shampoo? I am still waiting for my rebate check, but I’ll let y’all know when I get it.

Now I’m trying to decide whether I will buy the Pom & Green Tea anti frizz serum… hmmm

Product Review: Knot Today

An ode to a detangler:

Dear Knot Today,

I went to Ricky’s one day and we found ourselves staring at each other in the aisle. You were laying down the charm and I found myself weakened as I reached out for your bottle. I wondered if you would be the one to turn my life around and treat my curls the way they should be.

I wondered if my honey’s sister was right. Should I give someone like you a chance? I mean your packaging was alright, your words were convincing, you even wanted to condition my curls as you detangled. You promised to set my life in order.

I’m sure you hear this all the time, but you are great. You are something special (tangent: has anyone seen the short film Validation on YouTube?) You caressed my hair as if it were your own and never let me down.

Even as my faith faltered when you got super creamy when I was brushing my hair, you did not falter. Soon (ten minutes to be exact), my hair was brushed and I was happy. No longer did my biceps and neck hurt with the side dish of throbbing temples from brushing my hair. No – you are the real thing.

Yaya + Knot Today = LUV 4EVR

Product Story:
KNOT TODAY TM is a creamy herbal conditioner and detangler designed to smooth the cuticle and remove knots, snarls and tangles from thick curly textured hair.

After washing hair, apply KNOT TODAY TM generously and work through troubled areas with a wide tooth comb.

Can be used as a regular rinse out conditioner for wavy hair or as a leave-in for thicker curlier hair types. An excellent product to use after removing braids and extensions.

My Verdict:

Like I said in my original post y’all. It’s not often that I find a detangler that works right. I have me some crazy hair and this detangler/conditioner stuck around and delivered on its promise. 10 minutes of brushing hair might be excessive to some, but I have that to compare to my normal 40 minute brushing. Yes 40. The conditioner keeps your hair soft and it smells good. I used it and sprayed light hair spray over it and went out, and had commercial worthy curls all night and then all morning (you know how we do in NY!).

So hear this ladies and gents of the jury, if a knot is what you got – tell them, Knot Today!

Product Review: Body Shop Mineral Eye Shadow

Went to the Body Shop at the Seaport on my lunch break. (Who needs to eat lunch when there are stores?!) Bought yet another Nature’s Minerals Eye Shadow. Now it’s time for a review.

The colors I now have in my collection (4/6 pretty good huh lol):

Swatches (in 2 lights):

After one swipe

Colors in same order as first picture.

01 Platinum Shimmer (Silver), 02 Radiant Graphite (Grey/Copper), 03 Golden Emerald (Green) (don’t have/not shown) 04 Pink Opal (Pale Pink), 05 Bronzed Amber (Soft Brown) and 06 Molten Bronze (Chocolate)

Product Review:

Product Story:

Best if you want to: Accentuate your eyes with crease-resistant, blendable color that’s made from the earth’s purest minerals.

Best for: suitable for sensitive skin

How it works:

  • Mediterranean clay is an absorbent mineral that helps bind make-up to skin for long-lasting coverage.
  • Mica adds luster and has light-diffusing particles to help disguise fine lines.
  • Dermatologist-tested with no added fillers, preservatives or fragrances.

Price: 4.5 out of 5 ($13)
Quality: 5 out of 5

Overall: 5 out of 5

My Verdict:
When I put on eyeshadow, I don’t always want shimmer, or to be too showy. But this one takes the cake. It’s affordable (4.5 b/c it can be cheaper – ya know?). Take into mind also, that The Body Shop has a rewards program, it’ll even out the price to be cheaper. Some more brownie points for the checklist?

It is – very pigmented – requires one or two swipes at most to convey the color you are going for. It is soft and light on your eyes. It doesn’t smudge easily, and lasts forever. Last but not least? Easy to take off! Hello favorite!

So ladies and gentlemen of the jury? This may not be for everyone because of the kind of product it is. However, if you wear shimmer, or like mineral shadow? Head on over and get you some!

Product Review: Too Faced Mirror Mirror Gloss

Hey y’all!

I’m getting readership now – how exciting is that?

Doing a glance over of my handbag (pray for it please b/c yaya has not been kind) and its contents and I realized I’m carrying lots of obsessions around with me.

Figured I’d do a review just to let ya know.

Too Faced came out with a lip gloss line called Mirror Mirror ($16 at Sephora).

All the names (a la OPI) are for the narcissist in all of us. After trying my first one in I’m Perfect, I had (justified needs?) to get more. So to date there are now three different colors in my collection: I’m Perfect (x2), Don’t Hate Me, Envy Me.

You can see how depleted my month old
(yes I said month – did you not hear me say obsessed?)
oldie is. The decal even rubbed off!

These are the swatches from the Too Faced website.
They are more true to color than the ones on the Sephora page.

1. 2.3.
I Know You Want Me (clear), Damn, I’m Hot (red), I Love Myself (pink)
4.5.6.
Don’t Hate Me (peach), Envy Me (currant) , I’m Perfect (beige)

Product Story: “It’s YOU darling when your lips are slicked and shined with Too Faced’s mirror finish lip gloss. Drenched with super shine and loaded with natural Goji Berry extract; one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature! So protect and nourish your lips with the glassiest gloss this side of the Magic Mirror.”

My Verdict: I LOVE lip gloss… I can’t get enough of them, I probably buy at least one every month from CVS/Sephora/etc. So with that in mind – this was perfect for me. Even though the packaging was nothing too special and nothing too bad, and the price is a bit hefty for just one lip gloss, the lip gloss 1. tastes & smells good (that probably doesn’t matter to many people but trust when I say there are some that are unbearable!). You can actually taste sugar on this (might be one of the reasons why mine ran out so quickly). 2. No matter what anyone says – all lip glosses have to be a certain level of sticky simply b/c of what kind of product it is. This was the least amount of sticky – almost like butter on your lips (in a good way – I need to find better similes hehe) 3. This has the most amount of shine with the least obnoxiousness.

Here’s what it looked like, ladies & gentleman of the jury:
[lol don’t mind the severe CHEESE 🙂 ]

I suggest y’all ALL go get one lol.
