Subscribe Me Cap’n!

IMG_0694

Do you have any subscriptions that come into your mailbox? I feel like my list of subscriptions is growing with every YouTube video that makes my brain go ‘SQUIRREL!’. But-err-umm. Speaking of squirrels? Milton (remember him?) gets a subscription box too.

Enter onto the stage Barkbox. You guys. This subscription box is two toys and three treats for dogs. The monthly subscription box always has a theme and consistently has the MOST awesome illustrations. Continue reading “Subscribe Me Cap’n!”

Make a Plan, Write a Journal, Buy a Notebook

IMG_0895

You guys. Planning is a thing. It’s such a thing. Erin Condren has been out for a while (like over ten years but no big deal right?), bullet journals are taking over all organizational junkies (I swear I still don’t understand how to adult with this style of journaling), writing down your feelings to check in with yourself, track your workouts, notes, nutrition, or just anything has always been hip! And Sometimes Dog

IMG_0943

Greetings from the official pupper of And Sometimes Y!! I would like to formally introduce Milton Bartholomew (his dad gave him a middle name). This forever pup sized ‘pocket pibble’ is my overzealous, vicious kisser (and farter) Pitbull mix rescue.

If you know me in any capacity (no seriously, even if you just spoke to me for two minutes), you would learn that I am a crazy dog lady. I have bags, t-shirts, and friends who say it – so it must be true. So I would be remiss in speaking about things that I love (beauty, lifestyle, fashion) and never mention a tail wag.

I will be working on featuring anything dog on Sundays. I’m still working on the planning and magic of it all, but do get familiar with this mug in the meantime! Should you have crazy dog lady tendencies like myself, you would probably be delighted to find that Milton has an Instagram account.

Do you have pets? Are you loony about them like me?

Accessories at H&M, a Review

IMG_0877

When it comes to jewelry, do you feel like your aesthetic is forever the same?

Way back in my teen years, I had an affinity for large rocks (of course they weren’t real!) and kitschy comic-y designs at the same time. I would be doing my best Real Housewives impersonation one day and collect Kenneth Jay Lane strawberry necklaces the next (do you remember these? Am I aging myself? And YES, I made myself broke for no reason with those suckers!). It took a lot of honing my taste things breaking and turning my fingers green (GAH!) before I stopped buying everything. A Lip for the Lucky

IMG_1404

You guys! It’s Saint Patrick’s Day! I have to admit I’m incredibly guilty of taking to this day for celebrating all things green (and maybe sometimes alcohol related) and should probably do more research and celebration of Irish culture. Maybe it’s not all leprechauns and pots of gold and getting pinched for lack of wearing green – but – let’s all do our research and learn while simultaneously wearing green and having a pint, shall we?

Now, I’m not much of a fan of beer. A green liquid lippie or seaweed cleanser though? All over it.

Green is a fairly rare color to encounter along the makeup counter outside of eyeshadow – and even then, it is most commonly found in emerald, dark gem tones and not grassy hues. Shoot, until recently, it was scarce as a liquid lip to begin with! Continue reading “A Lip for the Lucky”

Metallic Candy Bars

img_0827

Liquid lipstick has taken over all the internets. It has taken over almost all makeup counters, and if you are anything like me, it has forced you to pick favorites. Me? I am cllllllll about liquid lipstick. The precise lip, the pigmentation, the lasting color. The triple threat to my heart lies within the perfect liquid lipstick.

Most recently, metallic liquid lipsticks have been playing with my emotions. I thought that it wasn’t exactly up my alley (though I love a lot of the Colour Pop ones) because I didn’t see any of them as colors I would wear daily. This is until I came across the Milani Amore Matte Metallic liquid lips. Those are the bees knees you guys.

But why discuss two brands that aren’t even what the stinking’ post is about? Well because this fascination with metallic liquid lips is what got me to try this sucker out. In my head I added the ‘matte’ behind the ‘Melted’ for this Too Faced Liquid Lipstick gloss and my imagination went from there. This was an impulse buy on Sephora paired with another metallic liquid lip. So maybe that also influenced what I thought/wanted this to be? Continue reading “Metallic Candy Bars”

An Orange Battle Cry

img_0791

As I have gotten older, I have come to understand more and more the need to give back. It has come as both gratitude for the ways in which I have been blessed, and a passion for causes that come closer and closer to my heart.

One of these is Cycle for Survival. An event where you do a mass exercise (think hundreds of people) and raise money for rare cancer research. Picture this: an Equinox fitness location (or whatever trendy fitness location you have in your neck of the woods – you’ll understand the specific club reference shortly) where all the equipment has been removed from the floor and replaced by stationary bikes. There is an instructor in the center every hour for four hours and each one leads a pom pom pumping, cheer inducing, sweaty good time. Continue reading “An Orange Battle Cry”

Breakups to Makeup

img_0876Over the last couple of years there has been an influx of sassy phrases appearing on makeup bags. The bag that originally sparked my interest was the ‘Losing You‘ makeup clutch (it’s sold out. Sorry?). The phrase was on a canvas bag (also a trendy swoon component) and said ‘losing you hurt but losing my makeup bag would be a tragedy.’ Humor and sass to compensate the feels for the win.

Breakups to Makeup (B2M) was created by makeup artist Angelique Velez.

“As makeup artists, makeup is our form of art, it is our outlet and release.  No matter what we are going through in life it’s the reason why we get out of bed.  Makeup is a true form of art that let’s us not only express ourselves, but also makes others happy,” says Angelique. Personally, going through a difficult time in my own life (ahem, a breakup), makeup literally saved me and served as my outlet to devote my time and energy.  Many people don’t understand how powerful makeup truly is and I wanted to spread that message in a quirky yet enlightening way, hence the birth of B2M!” source

I’m not going to say outright that B2M was the trailblazer for makeup pouches with sassy phrases on ’em. I’m sure that from the moment T-shirts had phrases on them people started printing words and phrases on anything, that a makeup pouch was free game, but in my little bubble, B2M felt like it snowballed it into a viral item and now I see them everywhere. Red Nose Day!

If you’re anywhere within the vicinity of a Walgreen’s or Duane Reade, you should have seen millions of images of a Red Nose (and maybe bought one – or many) in preparation for today.

Today is Red Nose Day! The foam red nose is a small symbol to allow people to come together and have fun, thus cheerfully raising funds (or funs, if you’re being punny) to save and improve children’s lives.rednoseday

There is also a special on NBC! “The Red Nose Day Special is a live 2-hour primetime television event that brings together the biggest stars for a night of fun and laughs.”

One of the sponsors for Red Nose is Essie. They had a small four color red collection (did you see it when I posted on IG?) just for the day, and I got my hands on Jelly AppleOne thing led to another and I figured – what’s a red nose without a red lip? Indisputable logic – no? Here are a few of my trusty red  faves and some brand new additions I’m giving a try.
