Emma Stone – Blond vs. Red

Emma Stone debuted her new blond (don’t you always think it deserves an e? I always do, so disregard the spelling errors!) ‘do recently. This is probably a preview of her Gwen Stacy character in the upcoming Spider-Man addition to the Marvel series.

Emma‘s red locks matched her super light skin tone and made her a standout. The blond? It washes her out a little bit, and makes her a bit forgettable. Just me? I would say maybe Gwen Stacy should be reincarnated as a redhead, but the comic diehards would probably come to my house with torches.

Most amusing is that the red hue is not Emma‘s natural hair color, but the blond is. What do you think?

Mila Kunis Has the Recipe for Flawless

Mila Kunis seemed to be in possession for the recipe to looking flawless last night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. She had a strapless A-line dress cinched with a wide belt. The dress fabric was textured and had black on navy flower appliques on the bottom. The draping gather in several areas to add dimension to the dress. She kept the color palette black and navy – even with her suede pumps, and let the dress do most of the talking, with only some studs and a gold and pearl ring.

The actress had a slightly coral flush on her cheeks with an olive brown eye. Add to that some black liner on the rims of the eyes and some extra wispy lashes, and what do you get? Well I already said it like five times. Flawless!

American Music Awards – You Be the Judge

The stars rocked fashions all akimbo in styles different from ball gowns to architectural pieces. Colors ran rampant (as well as simply fancy in regular black).

Plenty of stars missed the mark (Miley could’ve ditched the train on her dress, if you ask me) and others pulled it off. The most important though – your verdict!

Burlesque Green Showdown

Fellow Mickey Mouse club alum, Justin Timberlake proclaimed Christina Aguilera the strongest and best vocals of his generation. As I mentally replay her musical catalog through my head, I do have to say I agree (admit it – even Genie In A Bottle was pretty good vocally,no? Just me?).

The singer extraordinaire has been promoting her new motion picture, Burlesque (check out the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), where she shares the silver screen with an icon for many generations, Cher. When she sits down for Thanksgiving dinner this month, I’m sure she’ll be thankful for these great opportunities as well as being honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

Though I am a bit saddened by the breakup of her marriage (was I the only one rooting for these two strangers?), I’m glad she’s back in the spotlight. Rocking a red lip on the regular with curve hugging styles, she seems to have figured out the magic formula of being sexy without showing too much (and while being a mom) with every red carpet.

She’s not the only one checking the books and getting their study on, though. As mentioned before, green is a very trending color in a gal’s wardrobe, and so Christina aptly had some competition. Kristin Cavallari sported a green mini, which may have outsparkled, but not outshone Christina’s flowy strapless getup. It all depends on what you prefer on your starlet, no?

The two gals stepped it up a notch and had a forest green smokey eye. I am favoring Christina’s for the presence of lime green/yellow towards the inside of the eye (whereas Kristin’s looks like a neutral tone, or just an absence of color).

Ashley vs. Camilla. You Be the Judge

Ashley Greene and Camilla Belle (or their stylists) must have been on the same page when they paired a duo of a dusty khaki with black. Ashley’s outfit is an easier dress (easy because you don’ have to play the “what goes with this?” game), while Camilla’s separates are a little more fun with a lower neckline and embellishments.

Eva’s Outfit Changes – You Be the Judge

Eva Longoria-Parker had some serious outfit changing duties as the host of the MTV Europe Awards. She became a thirteen outfit rockstar, and I’m not even sure if the lucky 13 includes her “ham dress.” It didn’t stop at outfits though. Eva sported different hairstyles as easily as she changed dresses and pantless (the trend of the night) outfits. Check out how she went from wavy to straight, and short to long in under three hours. What!

You Be the Judge! Glee Edition

Another series of You Be the Judge has landed on the pages of MOJ with Glee starlet Lea Michele. The gal has come into her own in the spotlight, starting to experiment more (or hiring a daring new stylist?) with the fashions she sports on the red carpets, as well as shoots she signs up to do. She even did a topless shoot for Marie Claire UK (but it wasn’t a Maxim type shoot, trust me!).

I prefer the lady with her hair down, but I’m more of a fan of when she uses brighter lip colors like in number 5. The point of this series is to compare looks that stars have used in outings, without any photoshop or lighting assistance. Lea doesn’t look too awesome with vampy lip colors, but bright does her right.

You Be The Judge! State of the Union

Another series of You Be the Judge is upon us! I was thinking of which lucky lady would be perfect for a series. I like to choose people who aren’t over exposed (so no Gaga, Beyonce, Kardashians, or Rihanna – though that would be awesome), partly because everyone compares and views their different styles everyday as is, and also because they do so many different looks that I’d need ten volumes of the series per star. Which leads me back to the never ending search of a strong woman who experiments with her styles in both fashion, hair, and makeup.

The winner this time around is Gabrielle Union. A strong woman (independent if you were to check out Ne-Yo‘s music video for the similarly named song). Her fashion experiments almost never go wrong, and quite frankly, she seems to have sipped from the fountain of youth. How do you like it? What shade of her/style fits her best? Do her eyes smolder more with a smokey eye, neutral tones, or something dark and intriguing? Let me know!

You Be The Judge! J to the Lo

It’s been a bit of a forever since I posted the inaugural You Be the Judge post, so today as I was making a valiant effort to check out the MOJ Facebook and Twitter page as well as clean out my e-mail with minimal distractions (I said I tried), I realized I had plenty gals who were itching to have a post done about ’em.

In comes Jennifer Lopez. I wanted to pick someone who had plenty of looks and not an over abundance of spotlight. I know it’s nearly pointless to do a similar post on Rihanna or Kim Kardashian or Lady Gaga, but almost everybody else is free game.

Through almost all the photos I found, Jennifer Lopez rocks just about the same lip gloss color, but she experiments with hair, eyeshadow shades (although the same technique – call her Miss Smokey), lash lengths, and wait for it – blush! A girl after my own heart. From corals to pinks, and plums to golden bronze.

New Feature: You Be the Judge!

I have been a little bit under the weather the last few days so I have been staying away from the computer and closer to the Ginger Ale and open windows. It’s not that cool that I feel so odd on the best weather weekend so far, but I have managed to salvage the joy by thinking of a new blog feature for MOJ (I also went bowling on Friday!).

This new feature comes via inspiration from Karen, founder and author of the Makeup and Beauty Blog. Her ‘which one was the best hairdo’ poll is the reason why this one is coming up (click here for an example). To keep up with the theme of the site (see it yet?) You be the Judge will be a variety of photos of a celeb, letting you judge which lipcolor/haircolor/makeup style suits them best.
