New Contest!

Hey y’all!

Contest time!

So we all know how I like to talk about bright colors and how warm weather is more and more appropriate for such endeavors riiiight?

Well here’s the contest:


There’s not much to it.
Do it up and do it bright.

[a must]: Bright eyes. Bright lips.

[up to you]: Bright cheeks.

(this is up to you as doing your whole face bright
may be a little clownish and the point of
the contest is to still look cute)

[if you dare]: Bright nails!

Now for the rules:

  1. There must be at least three pictures – 2 – of the look and – 1 – of the items used. Having an inspirational picture is not mandatory.
  2. You must post the look on your blog/page. If you do not have a blog, shoot me an e-mail so that we can work something out.

  3. E-mail me at myownjudge@gmail.com to let me know what the link to your contest entry is. Also- enter a quick note about letting me use your images for when I post all entries. This is b/c I do not want to risk anything w/my computer and will not be opening e-mails with attachments, unless that is what we mutually agree on.

  4. Entries must be posted before/on June 25, 2009. I don’t want to mess around with time zones, so all I know is this: On Fri 6/26/09 I will be posting all entries at 12pm my time (NYC). This gives you over three weeks to prepare, and will leave five (5) days for judging. To switch it up, this contest will be judged by a panel of people I know and there will be one winner chosen by popular blogger vote (that means only people with valid blogs – so that I can be sure of fairness).

  5. There will be 2 winners. For every additional 5 entries after the first ten (10) entries, there will either be an additional runner up or another winner (i.e. 15 people = 3 prizes, 20 people = 4, etc.).

As I have stated previously, I would like to run a contest monthly. If you have suggestions for a new contest, or have feedback for the contest or the rules, you know what to do. My e-mail address is widely available on this here blog. 🙂

Well that was a big fat flop. I only got one entry!!

Don’t feel bad for me just yet though, I was out and not promoting for a good while, and I did hear from a couple of you that the topic was a bit overwhelming. I hear ya and I promise the new contest on June 1 will be easier to handle.

Regardless though, I have to give a big round of applause for my girl Saimese for submitting the winning entry (not just by default – she did a great job!). She is one hot mama and she can spot a beauty don’t a mile away.

New contest as promised!

To break out the month of May on a good note, I got a new one for ya:

Oh No (s)He Didn’t!!!
both girls and boys welcome to participate as always!

Do you like acting like the fashion police? Do you make faces at people who are not wearing a look the way a look is meant to be worn? Well this is your chance to educate the masses!
This contest asks you to take a Don’t and make it a Do, or vice versa! Make yourself heard!

What do I mean?

  • If it’s wrong to wear socks with sandals – you let them know w/pictures.
  • If it’s wrong to wear more than 8 patterns at once – your photograph can make a change in someone’s fashion life!
  • If it’s right to wear dramatic makeup with subdued lips – then warn the public of how not to go overboard!

Depending on who enters, and what the entries are about are what the prizes will be based on (from gift cards to makeup, to a mix, to clothes, etc.).

It’s judging time! Thank you to everyone that participated (or at least tried to – lol I’m sorry if some of you had difficulty with this).

The next contest details are going out on May 1, 2009. The same day as the winners are announced!

Now on to the good stuff, here are the voting rules:

  • All votes will be done via comments ont this post.
  • All comments must have a name attributed to them. NO ANONYMOUS VOTERS! This will be good for me b/c I will be confident in the fairness, and everyone else can keep track of where they are in the running.
  • All participants, please e-mail me with your address as soon as possible. This way, I can have the packages ready to mail out on the day the winners are announced or in case I decide to send everyone something (that’s a possibility not a guarantee).
  • All voters must be respectful and civil. All rude comments will not count as a vote, and will be deleted!!
  • Everyone can vote only once.
  • I don’t mind if participants vote for themselves.
  • Though I didn’t post up what they used, all their blogs contain a picture of that, so if you are interested, check them out!
  • Voting ends April 30, 2009. Once again, I am not bothering with time zones – I am posting up the winners on May 1, 2009 at 12pm (noon NYC) sharp.

My Doll

Hey y’all

So since I was a little under the weather for the duration of the contest, I wasn’t able to put out my own look. But what would a contest be without my own look?!

Here’s my inspiration:

Does anyone remember The Big Comfy Couch? The clown and her doll Molly? I remember watching this way past the age I should’ve been on days when I was bored and school was out (I’m not a soap opera gal), eating ice cream & all sorts of other junk before my mom got home.

I originally wanted to do the doll, but she didn’t have freckles or pigtails, and that made it more fun, so my look is a mix of both the main characters. 🙂

Doll Inspiration part 1

Hey y’all

Okay so are some of you having trouble getting inspiration?

This is a 2 part inspiration course for y’all.

Here are some pictures to get you rolling…

So there you have it – a geisha, a harlequin/clown, an alice in wonderland, a rag doll,and a chucky type doll (not in that order)… what do you have in mind?

I don’t mind if this sparked a light bulb in your head or served as inspiration for you. Both are fine.

To give credit where credit is due, each photograph’s description is linked to the artist’s profile. Y’all know I don’t play around with that – everybody gets the credit they deserve!!

Contest: All Dolled Up

All Dolled Up

Pretty much what it says. Use any doll inspiration to create anything from a makeup look to an all out getup, etc. Put on your thinking caps and use some imagination everyone! You can use anyone from Barbie, Cabbage Patch, Bratz, American Girl, Simpsons, HK, Nesting Dolls (also matryoshkas), to the Bride if Chucky or Chucky himself if you wish. My examples are meant to be just that EXAMPLES. Do not LIMIT yourself with my suggestions.

Now for the rules:
  1. There must be at least three pictures – 1 – inspiration – 2 – your look – 3 – what you used.
  2. You must post the look on your blog/page. If you do not have a blog, shoot me an e-mail so that we can work something out.
