Ck Splendid Glam Mini Nail Enamel Collection

What it is:
A set featuring four fresh and flirty nail polish shades.

What it does:
ck Calvin Klein Splendid Glam Mini Nail Enamel Collection contains a set of four long-lasting, chip-resistant nail colors. The bold shades of Indigo Blue, Aqua Splash, and Heartbreaker will look amazing peeking out from a pair of strappy sandals and Hint of Pink will give your fingertips a sheer glaze of color.

What else you need to know:
The set includes four Nail Enamels in Hint of Pink, Indigo Blue, Heartbreaker, and Aqua Splash.

all are with two coats except Hint of Pink (ring finger color – that was 4)

Review (5 highest, 1 lowest):

Packaging: 3 out of 5 (the polish is a little misleading, as the cap is bigger than the bottom half holding the contents, making you think you are getting more than what you’re actually buying)

Price: 3 out of 5 ($25 Limited Edition at Sephora)

Quality: 2 out of 5 (each polish had a different consistency and application)

Overall: 2.5 out of 5

My Verdict:
When I first laid eyes on this, it was very much an eye-catcher. I am always a fan of the cK packaging, with its clean lines, and seductive colors. The price range is always a little out of the norm, but at the same time, that’s a given (at least to me) with the company’s name.

This 4pack looked really cute and begged me to take it home as if it was love at first sight. The results were quite disappointing. All the polishes have a differently consistency, Indigo Blue went on the best, with no problems, and was vibrant from the first coat. Hint of Pink went on terribly – it was uneven, streaky, and took four coats to even have a presentable shade. Heartbreaker was cute but was a little streaky at first, and is super high maintenance with application. Last but not least, Aqua Splash looked much nicer in the bottle, was very watery in color, and would probably need a third or fourth coat to look better.

The only one I liked out of this collection was Indigo Blue, and I have a nagging feeling, that the Milani Bolting Blue I swatched a while back might be a dupe. Will let you know!

I don’t recommend anyone to get this – unless they get the Indigo Blue separately – in which case getting OPI or so will just be more effective b/c you’ll get more product too.

Swag Attack – Target

Taaaarrrrr-Jaaaaayyyy

So it went as it always does – yaya goes in for contact lens solution and toilet paper (okay not always but necessities is what I mean!) and she leaves with an additional bagful of goodies.

I didn’t take pictures of the toilet paper or the contact lens solution, because … really.

I got a recycled cotton makeup bag and 3 Pixi makeup palettes. After getting home, and after a whole subway ride of thinking ‘why did I buy THREE more palettes?’ I decided I would probably only keep the bottom palette for myself and keep the other two for swaps and giveaways.

I also have never tried Pixi – have you?

Konad Experimentation

So I decided to experiment with my new Konad kit.

Not bad for a first try right? Used Tracy Reese and LA Girl polishes as base and the Konad white and black special polish for designs.

The only thing that I dislike about this for now is having to clean the plate after each use, and not being able to stamp the plate more than once at a time. Having to clean it also practically guarantees you ruin your polish on one hand.

LA Girl Nail Polish Swatches

Here are the nail swatches I promised from my swag attack.

None of these had the name stickers, so use your imagination with the names!

All of the swatches were 3 coats unless otherwise noted.

This color goes on not so great on the first coat and wows by coat 3. I couldn’t capture the shimmer so well on camera, but it’s definitely there.

This one was so thick, it only needed one coat (but I did 3 anyway)

This pink and pastel orange ones were my faves as well but they were really light and were the only ones that needed about 4 1/2 coats.

These two metallic colors went on great.

This one was absolutely my MOST favorite!! The color is so bright and goes on not streaky at all and it’s just super special. I decided to use the confetti Wet N’ Wild polish on top of it to make it look even more fun:

I’m also still getting the hang of posing with the polish (lol) so be patient!

MW: VIBE quoted

Happy weekend everyone! Magazine Weekend is a new schedule I created for the weekend (duh) and it’s me sharing with you. If anyone needs to know one thing, it’s that yaya does most of her literary adventures a la catalogs/magazines. The subway + the iPhone + the magazine flipping page by page to reach destinations of knowledge and area = a cosmopolitan love affair. Yes it’s that serious y’all.

This weekend shall start off with VIBE. It’s not enough that I always work in close vicinity to them (not stalker status – it’s just the ‘what a small world‘ effect of NYC!), but I also get to meet up with the mag on a monthly basis – once it comes a-knocking on my mailbox, I’m reading it inside out. Well actually I read most of my magazines inside out.

Let’s work out the spring equation:

The May issue focused on the Ri-Ri & CB issue on the cover and more importantly, a rise in abuse in dating. Though I feel strongly about the issue, I feel that the two spotlights need to handle their own business, and until I am to know the real story through and through, I violence is wrong in nearly any context (self-defense exception hehe).

They interviewed Tyson, Bow Wow, Cam’Ron, etc.

They had a bathing suit spread that had my VISA sweaaaaating and my abdomen quivering (cuz you know they’re light years away from being as fit as I’d like them to be lol!).

But since I’m not going to steal their cashflow, I’ll let y’all get a taste, and then you’ll just have to snatch a copy of your own. Here’s VIBE Quoted:
A magazine is never just the articles, neither. The advertisements do it just as much for me as the mag does. Sometimes I do fall prey to ad-ver-tisss-ment || ha-rasss-ment. I can’t help it. It’s the pains of an addiction to shop-ing. lol I’m being goofy.

Anyway! Common is looking good in the new Diesel cologne ad, Adidas snagged Katy Perry & Mr. Beckham, and I am 900% sure Hennessy is photographing the sweet songbird Tweet.
