Judge This! Male

This week, for the Ladies and Gents of the Jury series, I wanted to put a spotlight on the males. If we’re going to judge – we cannot discriminate!

Originally I wanted to solely do it about the male performers at Hot 97 Summer Jam 2009, but after looking through photos, there really isn’t that much diversity. Click here if you want to check the photos out for yourself.

Here’s what y’all really need to get a verdict in for:

Remember Jesus Luz? Madonna‘s boytoy?

He snagged the D&G campaign (all the way to the right) along with plenty other hot and current names, but the whispers all around are that nobody likes him in this shoot. I think it is mostly the placement of him in the photo that looks awkward and admittedly photoshopped.

Pixi Palette Review

Remember when I promised to review the Pixi palette?

I finally got around to using it for a look, and to see how portable and pigmented it is.

What it is:
This is a cosmetics brand from the UK by Petra Strand. Most of the makeup is portable and travel friendly. This is a limited edition collaboration with Target.

There is an extensive line of products, but I only bought the palettes. The Palettes are $28 each, and can be found here. Also make sure to click on the link to see the video with Petra. I tried to embed it but they didn’t have a link.

Review (5 highest, 1 lowest):

Packaging: 3 out of 5 (the polish is a little misleading, as the palette is super duper thin)

Price: 3 out of 5 ($28 Limited Edition at Target)

Quality: 4 out of 5 (they are not super pigmented, but when you use a brush, they go on and stay on very well)

Overall: 3.5 out of 5

I decided to use the Blue Energy Palette.

The swatches:

What I used:

The look:

My Verdict:
Though very cute and very portable, this didn’t become a huge win for me because it was so tiny and didn’t seem worth the price.

It comes with a mirror and two sided brush. The brush is alright but not great.

Don’t get me wrong – the shadows are of a great consistency and pigmentation, and the packaging is cute and fits in with everything. I just wouldn’t recommend anyone spending that money when they could get more volume for the buck.

Have you tried this out? What do you think?

Talk About It

Fashionista recently posted about social networking sites catering specifically to shopaholics and fashionistas.

Many of these new sites serve as forums and online shopping communities for advice and I guess research if you’re having a hard time finding something.

The question of the week is this:

It all comes down to high school. Do you work better alone or in groups (we’re speaking about shopping only)?

I personally am much better alone. Though I don’t mind going out with others, when we’re in a store, I often wander to do my own thing – and the fun part is the Show and Tell at the end.

Do you shop on your own or are you better with a posse?

Better yet, would you be better off shopping along or with a posse?

MAXed Out!

Any of y’all Max Factor fans?

Well if you’re a US fan, keep in mind they will no longer be selling in the States.

According to numerous news reports and whispers all around, it is said that Proctor & Gamble will cease sales of Max Factor in the states to favor the CG marketing and sales.

This change will go into effect with the coming new year, so if you’re a fan, stock it up.

Magazine Weekend – Self June 2009

[[edit]] ok this was another scheduling snafu that didn’t go through on time. Better late than never!

Happy weekend everyone! For this issue of Magazine Weekend, we are welcoming June in!

The issue we’re perusing now is SELF for June 2009 with the lovely Beyonce Knowles on the cover.

As the summer fast approaches, I thought the article about meltproofing your makeup by Eleanor Langston was the most appropriate to feature. And if you wanted to catch more goodies? Well you can get the mag for yourself!

Magazine Weekend – Women’s Health May 09

[[edit]] ok this was another scheduling snafu that didn’t go through on time. Better late than never!

Happy weekend everyone! For this issue of Magazine Weekend, though June has hit, I am bringing back just one more May tidbit for ya.

It comes from Women’s Health for May 2009.

The May issue has Miss Zoe from Star Trek on the cover, and plenty of get fit details that everyone can enjoy.

What I found most interesting?

They tell you how to take best care of your jewelry if you dare to bring it to your summer destination – though really, that’s not the best idea (unless you bought it at Forever 21 – in which case, it wouldn’t be too extreme a loss financially).

Blog Review Time!

[[edit]] So I had this scheduled for Friday, and it didn’t go through as planned because I apparently am dyslexic with my typing of years. Enjoy this later than sooner, and better than never!

Here we are again at Friday’s door – what’s in store in the web for my lovely readers?

Here’s a collection of a bunch of links from the unposted Blog Reviews while I have been remiss, along with some current ones as well.
