I’m back for good!

I have gotten a whole lot better (knock on wood) on the health front and I am back to my daily posting shenanigans (sorry for going MIA). I will be adhering to the schedule again, and will be posting the doll contest entries tomorrow!!! If you haven’t entered yet – feel free – I will be posting entries tomorrow morning my time (NYC) so if you can squeeze in an entry before then, feel free.

The details for the contest are readily available here: here or copy and paste this link into your browser: http://myownjudge.blogspot.com/2009/04/contest-all-dolled-up.html.

Pluggin’ Pluggin’

I think I might do a ” pluggin’ ” post once a week just cuz it saves y’all money, and helps pay the bills over here… cool?

Doll Inspiration part 2

I told you it was 2 parted!

So! Y’all want to act like you don’t know nothin huh?! And it’s not enough that I listed plenty upon plenty of possibilities? Y’all need actual makeup examples?! Alright so here’s some advice from the pros then! =]~

MAC has done three doll-ish collections that come to mind. Count them off readers:

Then there’s Harajuku Lovers – which can be a doll all in itself (I told you to be creative) or as inspired by anime…

Doe Deere Blogazine
posted a porcelian doll tutorial here. Look at the outcome:

And of course, for Barbie’s 50th birthday, she had a fashion show aqui (NYC) – click here to check out all the coverage and images from New York magazine and to see the close ups of makeup for all the Barbies through the ages.

I could go on for ages…

Act like you know!

Doll Inspiration part 1

Hey y’all

Okay so are some of you having trouble getting inspiration?

This is a 2 part inspiration course for y’all.

Had to head over to my fave site… www.Deviantart.com

Here are some pictures to get you rolling…

So there you have it – a geisha, a harlequin/clown, an alice in wonderland, a rag doll, and a chucky type doll (not in that order)… what do you have in mind?

I don’t mind if this sparked a light bulb in your head or served as inspiration for you. Both are fine.

To give credit where credit is due, each photograph’s description is linked to the artist’s profile. Y’all know I don’t play around with that – everybody gets the credit they deserve!!

Swag Attack at Duane Reade

So as we decided – I will confess my shopping sins to y’all as soon as they are committed…

This is the damage post a visit to Duane Reade:

I got a 98 color palette for $5!! It was $9.99 and I used my $5 rewards… ta-da!

I also got three Revlon scented polishes (I have been visiting them in the drugstore for days already and I had to get a couple – at least I didn’t get them all!!) I also got a Maybelline palette for either the goodie bag for the Doll Contest or maybe for a swap. I have also started myself on a bright pink lipstick kick and got one in the shade from Jane and Prestige. I also got a Styli-Style Khol pencil thingamabob (and a second one for gifting – not pictured) – it’s new and seems interested.

This Is What I Call Fam!

So Miss B from Clumps of Mascara totally surprised me with a care package that made my entire week!! This package was extremely packed! When she asked me what she should send should she ever have something to send my way (sneaky!) I told her some nail polishes and new stuff was always welcome…

uh hello jackpot!

She sent me China Glaze (which I never tried) and e.l.f & Essie, along with a Nic Stick, she sent MAC eyeshadow! Organix Shampoo & Conditioner, Dental Burst wipes, EcoTools powder puffs, and so so so much more!!

I swapped the China Glaze polishes. This is Orange Knockout – this is with flash and shows the true color, however, it is very thin in application and would need to be mixed with something to make it look as if it is more than one coat. With three coats, it is still as thin as one, and looks a little malnourished, maybe I will ask Dr.Frankenpolish for help?

This was Avalanche and applied great. This is a photo without flash. I don’t know if I’m bold enough to rock this color, but I think some funky nail designs will make it more fun and yaya appropriate. 🙂

How happy was I? Boy oh boy!

But wouldn’t you be with something like this at your doorstep?!

If I had a Mag…

NY Fashion reports who makes the big bucks for monthly fashion magazines, and who gets the least.

The most:

Angelina Jolie

Victoria Beckam
Lauren Conrad

The least:

Nicole Kidman
Carrie Underwood
Rachel Weisz

I was a little surprised that LC pulled in so many readers and that Carrie didn’t – but we would also need to consider what month it is and if it is one of the special issues (i.e. Spring Fashion, etc.)

Were you surprised by any?
