Happy Saturday, the weekend is here!!

Magazine Weekend continues with double the magazine in a day. I don’t know if y’all can or can’t handle it but I will ween you into it as I have turned into a magazine junkie.

The clip for the rest of today is from Cosmopolitan magazine for August 09. Again. The first one can be read here. But this was a can’t miss y’all.

I know a lot of the beauty junkies out there are a fan of lining their inner eyes. Sometimes people don’t do it because their eyes water, because they’re scared of poking their eye out, etc. But is it safe? Here’s your answer!

LG of the Jury – Gaga vs. Perry

It’s time for court again y’all.

This time we’re taking it to the stage. We got Miss Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. Both are performers who appreciate a costume. From Gaga’s Kermit dress and elephant headpiece, to Perry’s banana boats and strawberry bustiers.

Gaga was quoted in saying:

“A girl’s got to use what she’s given, and I’m not going to make a guy drool the way a Britney video does,” Gaga (in London) has said of her outlook on style. “I take it to extremes… It’s meant to make guys think: ‘I don’t know if this is sexy or just weird.'” (source)

Who’s Asking?

In case anyone is asking – here’s what I look like today and my nails too! 🙂

FYI: this is a tidbit of the Tarte Fall goodies. Got this from the NY Bloggin’ Beauts event in July! If you’re a NY’er, get your butt over to the NY Bloggin Beauts blog and give me a holler, so that you can make the next event!

I’ll admit – I took these pics in the workplace, that’s why I had to crop the weird shadow effect off to the side. Guilty as charged! 🙂

I’m devastatingly in love with this palette. The eyeshadows are all removable so you can do with them what you may, and the colors are uber work appropriate and soft. There are two great concealer colors, highlight colors, and smokey colors. Did I mention it comes with a double ended brush that is softer than a baby’s behind oughta be and a pencil? (That’s not a pencil you see in the black – that’s another brush o’ mine).

Naturally, this is the first but nowhere near the last FOTD with this palette, so keep your eyes peeled! Oh and did ya spy the zipper rose embellishment on the packaging? Y’all know I’m a sucker for awesome embellishments. That’s a pleasantly surprised expression by the way… 🙂

Magazine Weekend: Shape Magazine Aug 09

Happy Sunday!!

Magazine Weekend continues with double the magazine in a day. This tidbit is coming as a 2 for 2 on a completed week. Hope y’all had a great week of reading MOJ and taking care of business (anyone else singing along?)!

This tidbit right here is from Shape Magazine‘sAugust issue. The cover maven is Jada Pinkett-Smith on the cover to promote her new series on TNT HawthoRNe.

The love and admiration that I have for Miss Jada can be a never-ending love letter, but alas, that is not the topic of the day. Let me quickly reiterate how beautiful and on top of her game she is though… Ok done.

This tidbit is a mind trick to re-motivate yourself and keep going. I know a lot of times we reach plateaus and easily fall back into being couch potatoes watching nonstop reality television. Here’s the push if you needed it, and if not – here’s what you’ve been doing right!

Magazine Weekend: Self Magazine Aug ’09

Happy Sunday!!

Magazine Weekend continues with double the magazine in a day. I’m bringing some goodies to y’all on a continuous basis, so if you’re not really enjoying it, I’ll only know if you let me know. There are so many tidbits I come across and I love to share.

This tidbit right here is from Self Magazine‘s August issue. The cover maven is Zooey Deschamel on the cover to promote her movie 500 Days of Summer.

The magazine is also great at having pages of tips and tricks throughout each issue. They call it “____ Flash” the space being a variation of Beauty, Fitness, and others. Below are two that I found interesting and recommend you pick up a copy for other good pointers!

The magazine also has a great article by Francesca Castagnoli called “How I Got Over My Green Guilt.” and an ode to Zoeey with “31 Days of Summer.”

Magazine Weekend – Complex Aug/Sept 09

Happy Saturday!!

Magazine Weekend continues with double the magazine in a day. I’m bringing some goodies to y’all on a continuous basis, so if you’re not really enjoying it, I’ll only know if you let me know.

Let the festivities continue then! This Saturday morning, I’m drooling over the genius of Complex magazine for August/September 09. They have Keri Hilson on one cover and Kid Cudi on the back. In addition, they have interviews with Fabolous and Amber Rose. I will admit right now that I am not a fan of all of the above, but I will have to give credit where credit is due – and it is due for the images.

Keri Hilson being a bad mamajama. I’m loving the cage booties and the neon nails. The whole photo shoot is also pretty awesome with its comic book remix.

Amber Rose is one bad B. I love nearly every photo shoot she does, no matter how much booty is flaunted. Can’t hate on others for looking good! Plus I admire her for her daring fashion sense & the I don’t really give a damn facial expressions lol.

Kid Cudi – I have to admit I’m not much of a fan. But this photo shoot, with the crazy illustrations a la Where the Wild Things Are was keeping me attached to every word. Learned some things about the guy I never knew!

So this weekend started off with a bang and less clip and more of a kudos to Complex. This magazine is definitely a must read, and if you can’t get your hands on a copy, head over to the site pronto!

What A Lime-a Bean!

I have to admit something – every time I see a shade of Lime for nail polish, I usually snatch it off the shelves immediately. So as I was looking over my purchases for the past couple of months, I realized I have started to collect nearly every darn shade of it! What a lima bean I am! 🙂 I figured I’d share my findings and let y’all know which shades are out there and how much they go for!

To compare, I have (left to right) NYX Nail Polish in (73) Lime, OCC in Wasabi, and L’Oreal in (932) Shocking Green

And in real life:

The L’Oreal Pro polish has a shimmer to it that I couldn’t capture on photo for the life of me.

NYX Nail Polish in (73) Lime ($2.99) – the perfect shade for me – has more yellow than OCC
OCC in Wasabi ($8), – a cute vibrant color – has more green than NYX
and L’Oreal Pro in (932) Shocking Green ($4.99) – has way more green than the others, and also has shimmer

Do you like this color? Which is your fave?

On a side note, I am totally rocking the NYX on my toesies with a purple french pedi twist with a Zorro like design on one toe (I kept trying to do something creative and it was all a FAIL…)
