I found it!

Remember when I fell in love with a certain someone’s certain bootie? Well, I think I found it! After searching everywhere, I located it at Shopbop. After that, I found all the variations and prices (or almost all) on the web.

Revlon’s Starry Galaxies

Revlon Nail Polish
Just because it’s fashion week, doesn’t mean we forget about beauty and all the things that remain on the pages of MOJ. Though my nails have been admittedly bare and short throughout the shows (I had to chop all my nails off to prevent ‘bored biting’), I have been scouring drugstores for polishes that will grace my digits as soon as the nails grow back out.

I found some Revlon polish sure to make the heart beat faster. Look at all these glitters!! The best of all is definitely the tie in out of this world name for each color.

AMEXNYFW SS11: Lorick

Lorick Spring Summer 11During fashion week, the schedules become so hectic for shows going on inside the tents and off site (outside Lincoln Center), that almost everything and everyone is late – to everything. This makes life all the harder when you are trying to stick to a rigorous schedule (and forget about eating).

This and many other reasons are exactly why I love to have presentations thrown into the mix. Presentations go for anywhere from a half hour to two hours, and the models are either presenting a show over intervals of time, or they are standing around, posing to your every whim.

When the invitation for the Lorick presentation landed in my life, I was overjoyed that it was a presentation. I soon found out that it was held at Tela Design Studio by Philip Pelusi (and after a bit of research found out about Tela skin and haircare products – but more on that and the other beauty details from the show later). The backstage hair and makeup prep was almost as interesting as going to a show.

The designs featured pastels appropriate for the showing season (Spring Summer 2011), with plenty pantyhose and sheer fabrics. As you will see if you keep scrolling, pantyhose was used in a most interesting way to edit the way footwear appeared to the onlooker. The designer is usually creating garments reminiscent of Gossip Girl, but this time, the collection just screamed Grey Gardens to me. What do you think?

I wasn’t a fan of the headwear – a lot of it seemed to dull out the designs and the models a bit.

This model was my favorite – she had the best poses and pouts!

The entrance to the Tela studio had a breeze going through the presentation like a tardy guest, offering just enough air to let the garments flow!

I was totally digging this styling of the shoes at the show. Sure, pantyhose over footwear may not seem practical for the everyday, but it sure is something different and interesting to look at. It may even save your sole from a bit of damage while walking through streets, as well as offer a new shade and shape to your footwear. Care to try it?

I was a little disappointed with this model – she was as conservative and prim as her outfit, but I really wanted her to break out her smiling with the eyes! 🙂

How do you like it?

AMEXNYFW SS11: Carlos Campos Menswear

Carlos Campos SS11 NYFWToday is my catch up day for the crazy schedule of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I have already suffered a minor crash, so I think I’m going to need a stunt double or an assistant for the next season. Fashion is not for the restful!

As I try to catch up with the past three days, and keep it on schedule as of today, stay up to date with my Twitter and Tumblr accounts in between posts. There are also some sites that I’m writing for, and can’t wait to tell you all about it when I get home tonight!

The Carlos Campos brand was one I wasn’t too familiar with before the Spring Summer 2011 shows began. After arriving to the venue, I walked around each model to see what it is in the future of menswear. I have to say – after covering several men’s shows, you find that the shows aren’t too heavily focused on their beauty, but rather the substance of the clothes.

The collection featured diluted shades of gray and blue, with a focus on camel and khaki. The guys had straight leg pants, which were notably rolled up at the ankle. It’s funny that a move I’m trying to incorporate in my clothes is something the dudes are going to be doing next season.

The overall look this model was exuding was awesome. My favorite part is the pair of glasses.Carlos Campos SS11 NYFW
When I got to the room with this model I was overjoyed to have him pose for another photographer and my camera caught this shot. Sometimes you find gems without looking for them – just be fast, they last a second!

The main component of the show were these canvas oxfords. I’m kind of diggin’ ’em in these soft spring shades.

How do you like Carlos Campos?

Let’s Be…

WTC

Image Credit: Len Prince

Let’s be…
a little more thankful for the family and friends we have at this very moment.
a little more grateful for our time – it doesn’t last forever.
a little happier – life is such a gift.
a lot more like children; author Robert Fulghum wrote a book called All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.

These are the things I learned:

* Share everything.
* Play fair.
* Don’t hit people.
* Put things back where you found them.
* Clean up your own mess.
* Don’t take things that aren’t yours.
* Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody.
* Wash your hands before you eat.
* Flush.
* Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
* Live a balanced life – learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
* Take a nap every afternoon.
* When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
* Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
* Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup – they all die. So do we.
* And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned – the biggest word of all – LOOK.

Denimania – Beauty Rush Eyeshadows

Beauty Rush EyeshadowI know – I’m a little tardy to the party. The Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Limited Edition Denimania collection has been on shelves (pink buckets, really) for a while now, and only now do I venture out to see what it’s all about.

To tell you honestly, I am on a backlog to try out and test so many products, that adding to the pile seems silly. While new collections and products intrigue me, very few come home with me. Money talks pretty loud, and the backlog even louder. With that said, the coupon for a free pair of panties had me knocking on Victoria’s door.

My purchase consisted of some shadows, a newly packaged mascara, and some other extras to come to MOJ shortly.
Beauty Rush Eyeshadow
Mine came super dusty around the top for some reason. These look like baked shadows (correct me if I’m wrong).
Beauty Rush Eyeshadow
These shadows are supposed to be used both in wet and dry form. I have only swatched them dry so far and am loving the dimensional shimmer and how soft they are. They are also very easy to build up.

Have you tried these?

You Be The Judge! State of the Union

You Be the Judge - Gabrielle Union
Another series of You Be the Judge is upon us! I was thinking of which lucky lady would be perfect for a series. I like to choose people who aren’t over exposed (so no Gaga, Beyonce, Kardashians, or Rihanna – though that would be awesome), partly because everyone compares and views their different styles everyday as is, and also because they do so many different looks that I’d need ten volumes of the series per star. Which leads me back to the never ending search of a strong woman who experiments with her styles in both fashion, hair, and makeup.

The winner this time around is Gabrielle Union. A strong woman (independent if you were to check out Ne-Yo‘s music video for the similarly named song). Her fashion experiments almost never go wrong, and quite frankly, she seems to have sipped from the fountain of youth. How do you like it? What shade of her/style fits her best? Do her eyes smolder more with a smokey eye, neutral tones, or something dark and intriguing? Let me know!

Which looks best? Who do you want to see next?
