Hey guys!
Due to a tie of the blogger vote, there are three winners instead of 2.
Congrats to all, and stay tuned for the next contest details!

Tuesday’s back and the talking will begin!
Last week’s topic was about Beauty with a price, and what y’all were doing to be priceless and not … broke.
I got a tip from the hardworking team at BeautyPress “and scan the kitchen cabinets for ingredients to create fresh, homemade, and even organic beauty solutions” that started me thinking about the next week’s, or rather, this week Talk It Out topic.
Beyond using products for double duty, do you use natural ingredients, or other supplies around the house to aid in you cheap chic lifestyle? Remember – some of these aren’t just cost effective, the all natural ingredients are also kinder to your skin and body – you can even eat the leftovers on occasion!
There are plenty of options out there too:
-making scrubs with brown sugar
-using oil as makeup remover
-using honey on your lips
-baking soda as teeth whitening
-bananas for wrinkle treatments
-cucumbers for eyes
-various fruity/veggie masks
-epsom salt to exfoliate
-petroleum jelly as lip balm
What have you heard of? What do you do?

Hey guys!
I don’t often open up about personal aspects of my life, b/c I prefer to overshare on surface aspects so that I don’t find people at my doorway waiting for me and such 🙂
There are certain things, however, that are very close to my heart, as you are about to find out. Some history: in high school, a friend of a friend decided to honor a teacher that had passed by starting a club in her honor. She had lost a long battle to cancer, and so the Find A Cure club was created to raise funds and awareness for cancer. The first year, we raised $1,000 in a team of 20 or 30. We were some hellraisers I tell ya.
As the friends graduated, Yaya took over the ranks as president, and we continued to raise money for various charities ($2,000 the next year) as well as participate in walks and community service.
Though high school is long gone, the desire to help others isn’t. And I hope it’s not lost on y’all either.
Introducing: Pure Luxe Benefit Limited Edition colors to raise funds for the founder’s mother. Take a peek below at the excerpt from the Benefit page, and click over to order something!
Pure Luxe has affordable products (the sample jars of shadows are $1.00 and more than enough filled with product – at least 15 applications worth), the shipping is cheap & is affordable for international as well, plus the products are super pigmented, and ALWAYS look great.
I wanted to show proof of that but apparently, the computer does not share my desires. Being the resourceful me that I am lol – I did find a user on YouTube that posted two videos of swatches.
Enjoy!
The benefit colors were created all for my mom, with 100% of the proceeds going to hospital bills.
I will be donating all of the jars, etc, so 100% of the sales will be donation.
Her biggest dread has been losing her hair. I just couldn’t even imagine. As women, our hair is so much a part of who we are 😦 I told her I would get her any wigs that she wanted.
My dad is retired, and has heath problems of his own. I have helped all I could, but with Bruce’s (my husband) recent hospital drama, I am really tapped out on any extra money to do more.
As many of my regular customers may remember, last year I did 2 benefit colors for a friend, Tinkerbelle. She had breast cancer, and her limited insurance did not pay for any of the reconstruction costs, which was $10,000.00
Due to the generosity and compassion of the greatest customers in the world (and all over the world!) We raised over $5000.00, and made the difference!!
This time, it is even closer to my heart, my mom. A special wife, sister, mom, grandma, and lady.
As an added thank you, if you purchase 4 or more BENEFIT items, any of the regular line items you purchase will be 20% off.
To help save some confusion, this is how the % off will work…

Happy weekend everyone!
The issue I read back to back is Glamour for June 2009. I have already posted about this magazine last weekend, but the juicy advice is just too good to share with you this weekend as well.
With the tightening of everyone’s budget – I found it good to hear some advice for how to dress and be stylish at work and still keep your job. We don’t all want to be black slacks and white button down drones, now do we?

There was also some more, with the one and only Giorgio Armani. Zoe Seldana had a photo shoot to accompany his advice, and both were a good time to read.

Shoot me an e-mail to MissYaya@ymail.com if you would like me to explore other/have topics and/or magazines, or for general opinions of what’s in magazine weekend.

Hey y’all
Sorry for the delay. I had technical difficulties so I couldn’t reschedule and I was out of the house for a graduation for my lil sis-in-law. Congrats K!
Without further ado-
This week I had to postpone the Blog Review, in favor of posting up the contest entries. It will be back next week, so don’t you fear!

So since some of my lovely readers are courageous enough to experiment with bright colors for my contest, I did a look as well.
Today is the last day to submit entries. I will wake up tomorrow and post the rules for voting as well as all the entries. As always, a new contest will be up on July 1.
Now – as I always say – I love bright colors. As soon as warm weather creeps into the forecast, all colorful wonders break loose.
Then I wanted something really bright for my own contest. I got the perfect lightbulb over my head when I saw this nail polish display at Ricky’s for Mattese. Doesn’t it look like here’s a polish missing from the side?
I decided to let the debris and fall away in this makeup look stay b/c I thought it looked super duper fancy. lol! In the pics it looks messy – but really… who cares? I have fun when I want to, b/c I’ll Be My Own Judge!!!
Naturally that wasn’t the end of it. Remember when Mehron did leopard print eyes at the NYC Makeup Show? Well I tried that too.
40 color palette
Maybelline Last Blast Mascara in Black
MUFE Lipstick in 406
MAC Select Cover-Up in NW20
MAC Bronzing Powder in Solar Riche
(I used these for both looks btw – except no lipstick in the first look) also – for the leopard print eyes, I just used a nameless liquid eyeliner in black… nothing spiffy
You still have time to submit your entry!

Not too long ago, I was reading Life & Style magazine and the cover was all about the “drama” of Megan Fox vs. Angelina Jolie. The claims are that as Angelina gets older, Megan is deliberately stealing her spotlight and possible roles. This was highlighted by a statement from the Lara Croft crew – saying that they wanted Megan to do the next sequel b/c she is younger. Around the same time, Miss Fox had an interview with Entertainment Weekly in which she showed no amusement with the comparison. You can also check it out here from UsWeekly.
So I don’t know if y’all know this about me – but as much as I may read tabloids, it pretty much just slides off my shoulders once I’m done. A lot of it is good and quick entertainment on a subway ride, or in the bathroom (yeah I said it!). Ultimately, the media always makes something big out of nothing, and generally all the time us being outsiders to situations of the rich and ludicrous :)~ just means that we only know what we see.
I’m going to show you the cover of the mag. Then, I’m going to show you Angie at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by Megan Fox at the Transformers premiere in Germany (red) and Tokyo (purple). Your job, Ladies & Gents of the Jury is to decide if this is a case of the copycat or the leggy sexmachines.
Ready?
