Back to Mac/Hot Pink

I was green and I did my Back to MAC! What did I get? I got the Amplified Lipparoo in Impassioned. It’s super bright, and super creamy, and I love it! Might make me wear lipstick regularly? We’ll see.

The bright colors got to my head and got me acting all silly. Tell me if you’d rather not witness that again 🙂

and of course an inspiration board!

EOTD/Birthdays

Hey kids

In the month of February, I have been to two birthday parties. Both for cute lil’ one year olds. One for a girl and one for a boy. I find it funny that as I think about these looks they are both using similar makeup. Of course, of course – inspiration boards as well!

Take a look and tell me what you think. Don’t forget about the contest up above y’all!

Olivia’s 1st Birthday

As you can see, I didn’t go over one eye to match the hues, so you have a bright eye and a subdued eye. Oh well – I was late!

Feb Swag Attack (pic heavy)

Instead of letting y’all in on my problems with purchasing on a regular basis, I am going to make this monthly, so on the last day of every month – watch out for Swag Attack! This month I’d say I was good (at least in comparison to how I foresee March going down in the history books). Like my honey says when he sees new shadows/items: “I smell a big purchase in there.”

Well here’s what the scent carried folks:

Sephora Swag:
MUFE Glossy Full Couleur in pale pink (I think #7)
MUFE Flash Color E/S in Fard Gras (or pale green as Sephora calls it)
MUFE Eye Seal (wanted to see if it worked better than others… )
Sephora by OPI nail polish in Metro Chic
(got it b/c it was the closest dupe of OPI You Don’t Know Jacques and I have been trying to track
that down for weeks already – sold out – though now that I think about it… why didn’t I order it online sooner? … ANYWAY!! – See sample below)
Too Faced Mirror Mirror Gloss in I’m Perfect (scroll down to 2/26 to read my review)

It looks a little more gray in person.

Got some cheapies from Feel Beauty Supply in downtown Brooklyn. Everything on that list was $2 or under each (not counting the polish b/c that cost more and was from another store… Didn’t get a chance to sample the polish yet!! ahh!)

Went to CVS and Duane Reade to get items to review and came back with aplenty.
Got a Gel Liner Palette from Pantina (their site is under construction) in Duane Reade b/c it looked interesting. I found an article snippet about the company here if anyone’s interested.

Pantina Gel-Liner Palette (see swatches below)
CoverGirl Outlast Lip Stains in 420 and 415 (for a future review)
L’Oreal HIP Jelly Balm in Savory 420 (seems to be my # for lips I guess)
& Sally Hansen Insta-Dry nail polish in Lightening 10(I swatched it on a nail once before and it really did dry fast and I also happen to be a sucker for bright colors so when I saw it again, had to take it home – see sample below)

Also – me being me, I remixed the Pantina color names since they were a little too plain to me.

The colors in the palette are generically named:
Charcoal, Plum, Dark Gold, Green Blue, Bronzy, Black, Brown

Now you see why I had to switch it up?! =]~

Looked different in different lights.

I had to swatch it and photograph it in different lights because the photo of the actual palette didn’t come out satisfactory. See for yourself!

And now the polish…

Product Review: Too Faced Mirror Mirror Gloss

Hey y’all!

I’m getting readership now – how exciting is that?

Doing a glance over of my handbag (pray for it please b/c yaya has not been kind) and its contents and I realized I’m carrying lots of obsessions around with me.

Figured I’d do a review just to let ya know.

Too Faced came out with a lip gloss line called Mirror Mirror ($16 at Sephora).

All the names (a la OPI) are for the narcissist in all of us. After trying my first one in I’m Perfect, I had (justified needs?) to get more. So to date there are now three different colors in my collection: I’m Perfect (x2), Don’t Hate Me, Envy Me.

You can see how depleted my month old
(yes I said month – did you not hear me say obsessed?)
oldie is. The decal even rubbed off!

These are the swatches from the Too Faced website.
They are more true to color than the ones on the Sephora page.

1. 2.3.
I Know You Want Me (clear), Damn, I’m Hot (red), I Love Myself (pink)
4.5.6.
Don’t Hate Me (peach), Envy Me (currant) , I’m Perfect (beige)

Product Story: “It’s YOU darling when your lips are slicked and shined with Too Faced’s mirror finish lip gloss. Drenched with super shine and loaded with natural Goji Berry extract; one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature! So protect and nourish your lips with the glassiest gloss this side of the Magic Mirror.”

Review (5 highest, 1 lowest):
Packaging:
3 out of 5
Price: 4 out of 5
Quality: 5 out of 5

Overall: 5 out of 5

My Verdict: I LOVE lip gloss… I can’t get enough of them, I probably buy at least one every month from CVS/Sephora/etc. So with that in mind – this was perfect for me. Even though the packaging was nothing too special and nothing too bad, and the price is a bit hefty for just one lip gloss, the lip gloss 1. tastes & smells good (that probably doesn’t matter to many people but trust when I say there are some that are unbearable!). You can actually taste sugar on this (might be one of the reasons why mine ran out so quickly). 2. No matter what anyone says – all lip glosses have to be a certain level of sticky simply b/c of what kind of product it is. This was the least amount of sticky – almost like butter on your lips (in a good way – I need to find better similes hehe) 3. This has the most amount of shine with the least obnoxiousness.

Here’s what it looked like, ladies & gentleman of the jury:
[lol don’t mind the severe CHEESE 🙂 ]

I suggest y’all ALL go get one lol.

Blog Review

Thinking about making this a Friday thing – Blog Review so that y’all can see what’s got my gears going and my interest peaked. Okay, maybe it’s just b/c I’m trying to ease up on the forwarding to my friends (they’ll probably appreciate it too).

Happy reading!

TARDY: Fat Tuesday//Mardi Gras EOTD

So yesterday was Fat Tuesday/Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras (Wikipedia: Fat Tuesday). This was the first time that I did anything or was involved in anything. My coworker treated the whole staff to King cake (another tradition I was unawares to). She also treated us to beads (no topless acts included). The colors of the beads inspired an EOTD – below.

Grabbing the Slice

Makeup Forever (MUFE) Flash Color in Fard Gras as base (Sephora)
Milani E/S Palette in 10 Haute Couture (CVS)
Chanel Inimitable Mascara in 10 Black(Macy’s)
Sephora Smudge Brush #14 (Sephora)

Still getting used to the right way to photograph as well as edit and post, so bear with me! 🙂

All this excitement also made me create an inspiration
board of sorts for Mardi Gras. Tell me what you think.

What did you do yesterday? Do you have any Mardi Gras stories/looks?

Barbie Mania

With Barbie facing 50 this year, the lady doesn’t want it to end.

Case in point for 2009:

Her first time at NY Fashion Week feat. designers such as Bob Mackie, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, etc. See some reviews here, here, and in photos here.

Barbie Couture at Bloomies. [in store only]

Barbie loves Stila (and Sephora) with 4 collector’s tin cans fulla makeup.

Barbie product mania at Fred Segal. [in store only]

Remember carving up Barbies? (I never did but I hear lots of you are violent with your dolls…) Margaux Lange has used the pieces of various Barbies to create handcrafted pieces. (My favorite are the rings out of Barbie shoes)

And let’s not forget that Barbie teamed up with M.A.C in 2k7. Check out Makeup Bag.net coverage here.

Check out Barbie’s not so 50 year old blog here.
