In the Nubar Forest

This is a color that I have borrowed from a friend and have to refer to the pictures all the time because I feel like my life is not complete without it in my possession. Melodramatic? Perhaps. Orrr…. you can judge for yourself.

Nubar in Forest. I love this green. It’s not the weird neon/barf color that we were all crazy about when we were five or so (no? just me then). The color comes in the Going Green collection, which is almost as fantabulous as the Prisms collection fresh on the market, but perhaps equally as alluring as the Cleopatra collection with enough purples to rock my world silly.

As impulses with all polishes go nowadays, I had to try it out with a matte top coat, and my favorite is China Glaze’s Matte Magic. Surprised? Probably not.

NOTD – Face Stockholm

I started to test out all the polishes that I have in my possession, with a strong emphasis on new brands and never used bottles. If you think that there are many of those in my household – you are absolutely correct. So without further ado, here are the pictures of my self made mani with FACE ~~Atelier~~ Stockholm!! I do have to apologize for the fact that I did not record the number/name while taking pictures, so all I can tell you is that it looks like a creamy metallic purple.

Also? I can’t find the nail polish for this brand anywhere online. If you know the secret, please do tell.

[edit] After posting this y’all alerted me to the fact that my silly behind didn’t look close in the image to see that it wasn’t FACE Atelier but Stockholm! Doh! Serious Homer moment here.

The color of this polish is so pretty when caught with a flash (as seen in all these pictures). When you take a picture of it without flash it is nearly completely black. Why did I still get the polish then? When it’s on my hands and I move it around in the light like a cat with an amusing ball of yarn, I catch the whole spectrum of purple and that is all I need to be happy.

Does anyone else do that when they are overly pleased with themselves? I do that with nails, makeup, and anything else I feel proud of myself in lol. I can take a picture and look at it and zoom into every corner of the photo for hours while on the subway afterward.

This picture is with flash, but I did tilt it so that you can catch both how it looks with flash and without. The top part of the nail is basically what it looks like when you’re not twirling it around to catch any light.

NOTD – OPI Blast From the Past

I was trying to log in all the colors and brands that I have in my collection last week and apart from the fact that the mission failed miserably, my silver lining was unearthing polishes I forgot I owned.

I saw colors that I remember paying an arm and a leg for (you know – before I ever heard of 8ty8 Beauty or Head2Toe Beauty as my cheap fix). The first one that (re)took my breath away was OPI My Private Jet. As far as I know this baby was discontinued two or three years ago, but I’m sure there is plenty a handy Google-er reading here that will find it if the need arises.

The color sparked my interest for holo-like polishes before I was even aware they had their own category.

Experimenting with Nails

Starting around August I divulged a lot about my unnecessary nail polish shopping sprees. To this day, I am still experimenting with the new additions to my collections. I have hopes and dreams to franken my own colors, but so far I have just been swatching and sometimes mixing with top coats. I have also been indulging in super old polishes.

What may I be talking about? Does anyone remember Victoria’s Secret polishes that came in wide bottles that resembled pebbles a bit? No? I remember not only did I have these buggers, but I was even around to buy my favorite bottle of gold flecks on clearance when they wiped their collection clean of this version.

Here’s what my new favorite Essie color (Chinchilly) looks like:

I’m loving this mix of colors. The color is more true to life in the pictures without flash but in sunlight is a bit lighter.

Skin Food for my nails

I’ve been seeing a bunch of bloggers mentioning Skin Food Nail Polish, and of course, you know me, the crazy eBayer, I had to get my shopper’s delight satisfied. These babies flew over to me all the way from Asia (and of course they probably cost a pretty penny more than you Asian beauties get it for!). I chose some great ones, so keep reading and let me know what y’all think!

Of course, I am not sure what the colors were for any of these, but there were two bottles looking like medicine droppers and the other looks like a normal polish bottle. I got a bright color (of course) and a neutral tone holographic-y shade (which is quite appropriate for work as well!).

I’m not sure what the names are for any of these honestly. But you can tell I am lovin’ them! I used the China Glaze Magic Matte top coat to check out how this baby looked as a matte and I was not disappointed. The polish is pretty thick and requires very little work to apply and look fab.

The bottles look like mini medicine droppers.

The cream color is a slight holo and reminds me of one of the colors that many nail polish blogs are posting from the Nubar Prism Collection. I feel like this holo is most definitely work friendly and looks nice and neat on anyone’s nails.

After the bright and the holo, the metallic cream didn’t pique my interest from the trio that I ordered. That’s okay though, I will be venturing over to eBay for some other goodies and will report back ASAP.

LA Girl Matte in what Forever 21 calls Magenta – as you can see, nothing beats a matte like the China Glaze Matte Magic top coat left two fingers with top coat, right two fingers

LA Girl from Forever 21, this is such a gorj color, and probably should have a crazy name, but of course, 21 calls it Blue.

I love how it looks as a matte.
I finally got my hands on some KleanColor nail polish in colors that I liked. Blue Satin has a party inside of it! Confetti and glitter, but in a very not too loud way. 🙂 forgot the name of this color peeps, but if you ask, I shall find! left is no flashI tried to do a finger with Blue Satin over the purple, but it wasn’t spectacular This is Pearl Jungle, a green I honestly don’t think I have come across before (left no flash, right w/flash)
Tried it with a matte top coat, but this is the first color that I can safely say would do without any matte-ifying effects.

Nfu-Oh does the uhoh!

Title strike you as funny? I’m on a Beyonce streak so y’all know what the uh oh is!

Nfu oh. I have seen this polish across the net but have only experienced the joy in person. The polishes are wonders in packaging as they come like little bodies with corset handles. The polish that they are well known for are their gold fleck polishes.

The Korean brand has a pleasantly obnoxious collection of colors and products to have an over the top sculptural mani. Just check out their photo gallery and design blog.

I had recent fun with Nfuoh 51. It made me feel like a little kid seeing a magic trick for the first time, because really, I haven’t seen flecks inside polish done as well as Nfuoh does it. It looks the best covering dark polishes, but is quite the fancy pants on its own as well. But don’t believe me, read on and be your own judge…
