China Glaze Coverups – NOTD Adventures

PhotobucketAre y’all tired of my ClumpsofMascara shouts outs yet? That’s my Bloggin’ Beaut sister from another state. I’ve always said if she and I shared a living space we’d have to start doing makeovers on the street, and some other stuff, because no actual work would get accomplished.

But there is a bright side to friendship, always. This one? We always tend to tip each other off in the newest and coolest, brightest and funnest products and brands. And when one is too broke to indulge, we share our resources – kind of like being green, eh?

Evidence: Diamond Cosmetics famous for their $2 polishes with alarmingly addictive colors. I stole some from my trip to Florida (I have sticky polish fingers future hosts!). When I returned from Florida, I had some fab China Glaze finish polishes that threatened to just make my excitement bubble burst.

Speaking of being green, check out the initial look of Diamond Cosmetics nail polish in Never So Ever-Green on my digits:

Photobucket Photobucket
such a pretty green, but so hard to capture on camera!

Then I checked it out in matte (courtesy of China Glaze Magic Matte from Head2ToeBeauty

And then of course, I had to top it off with China Glaze Wireless Holographic Top Coat (again from Head2ToeBeauty) – which of course looked cool.

Photobucket Photobucket
I happen to find all holos amusing… and you?
But then, I needed to check what the Holo would look like in matte (so I used China Glaze Magic Matte from Head2ToeBeauty again.

halfway through:

I was lovin’ every stinkin step. You? How’d it have you feeling? Which finish(es) are your fave?

Magazine Weekend: People Style Watch Oct 09

PhotobucketMagazine weekend returns today with a bang! I am a bit saddened about September missing out on Magazine weekend, but I can’t say it was possible. See, with the presence of NYFW, and my birthday, followed by my Florida trip and the Bloggin’ Beauts event, today is the only possible day I could bring it to y’all. I know you missed it, so I won’t stretch it out more than needed.

This weekend starts with People Style Watch. Jennifer Aniston is on the cover, along with titles of articles such as ‘359 Looks You’ll Love.’ I really like how this young magazine is coming along with tips on how to wear the most stylish designs, as well as cheaper versions of celebrity getups.

I take to this magazine for a lot of new brand and designer insight, as they are sure to be the ones that give you a quick head’s up, and this time around, they also have a couple of pages dedicated to Breast Cancer Research/Awareness and the companies supporting the cause.

If you read on, you will see I chose the article giving you the Five Simple Rules of Natural Makeup. Make sure to snag, or recycle & reuse a friends copy to catch all their product recommendations and the rest of the explanations to each rule. And of course, to let me know what you think!

Shoot me an e-mail to MyOwnJudge@gmail.com if you would like me to explore other/have topics and/or magazines, or for general opinions of what’s in magazine weekend.

Artist Summit Miami – Inglot/NOTD

PhotobucketI missed the chance to give you the scoop about Inglot coming to NYC a while back (summer to be precise). Around the time of the first Bloggin’ Beauts get together, the makeup brand with hues in the 100s under their belt opened their US flagship store in the Times Square neighborhood of my beloved Big Apple. (The store @ 1592 Broadway (between 47th and 48th Street) open 11 a.m. – 12 a.m.!!)

When I started planning my Florida trip for the Artist Summit in Miami, no one could have been any more excited than I when I heard that Inglot was making an appearance.

A Polish brand, slowly making their mark all across the continents, they have been present in the world as a brand for a quarter of a decade and counting. They are creators to over 390 shades for your eyes, and over 200 for your pretty nails. Soon, they’ll probably have just as many stores for each color.

About Inglot Cosmetics:

INGLOT Cosmetics was established over 20 years ago by Wojtek Inglot, a young chemist at the time working in Research & Development for a pharmaceutical company. INGLOT Cosmetics was founded on the principles of combining the most advanced technology and highest quality materials to produce the world’s most unique beauty products. The company’s point of difference is the freedom and flexibility for individuals to mix and match their own color line from the huge collection of colors. At present, INGLOT has one of the most extensive color ranges of cosmetic collections in the world and works with the best makeup artists to bring the latest trends in colors, textures and form of cosmetics to the market. With several new significant projects being fine tuned in the labs at the moment, coming months will see the introduction of a number of new and innovative products. All INGLOT Cosmetics are produced in the European Union and over 95% of them in INGLOT’s own state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.

Their Canadian website has some info about stores but not products. Their Malta site has some galleries, and the Australian site is under construction… but alas, none with e-commerce. And the one we’ve all been waiting for? The US store is in the works, but plenty beauty bloggers and product junkies alike have been promised progress, and quick!

Until then, enjoy the images I got for ya, and my two NOTD’s for my nail-a-day challenge from their polish (with more on the way). Photos on the left are without flash, photos on right are with flash.

These polishes are called matte but I would call them semi-matte, as they are flatter than a cream, but more satin-y than a normal matte.

I thought the polish looked like a yellow peanut M&M candy, so I had to buy a pack to compare. It was a little bit lighter, but way too fun… & yummy! 🙂

Heard about Inglot yet? Like it?

Artist Summit Miami

PhotobucketHow could I continue and introduce brands and events, if I didn’t at least share what my new camera captured in Florida?

While smaller than the NY Makeup Show in size for commerce, the lessons and seminars were of the most value. As I continue with new knowledge and inspiration, I hope you enjoy the images of the brands that both break through into the market to continued jaw dropping reactions, as well as the brands who never fail to amaze year in and year out, from quality to customer service.

The best part of these shows for me? Realizing that this is much more than just makeup. The search for the perfect product to accentuate and work well with every person’s beauty is evident from the product selection, to the dedication from even the creators (who are almost always present at each show!).

I’ll be doing some in depth reviews and intros to some brands, while others, the pictures will be worth plenty words.

NOTD mashup

My Own Judge Nail ChallengeAs you read this, I will be attempting to be a snazzy paintball shooter. I have never tried, but I envision myself to go in and knock everyone out like a sniper. I might just come back sad and bruised, but as I continue my Nail-a-Day challenge, and try to catch up with the days I owe ya, I’ll keep the digits soft, unscathed, and unbruised.

Want to take part of this challenge? Everyone is welcome – even if you extend your -a-day part with a week or a-every other day! 🙂

Send me your mani pics, and I’ll feature them as part of the challenge. I’m sure by end of each month, I can scrounge up some fancy polishes as a reward for the most original submission(s)! 🙂

Read on to see all the colors that I sported, and let me know which is your fave. For reference, whenever there are two pictures, the one on the left is without flash, and the one on the right is with.

Beauty Rush Velvetini Beauty Rush Velvetini
Victoria’s Secret, Beauty Rush in Velvetini
This one is a bit difficult to apply, but I will do a separate review of this line a bit later. The color is very pretty in the bottle and with flash, but extremely hard to capture with either regular camera, or with the naked eye after more than one coat (which is necessary).

Barielle Shades Grape Escape Barielle Shades Grape Escape
Shades by Barielle, in Grape Escape
This one was totally stolen from my fellow Bloggin’ Beaut, Britt from ClumpsofMascara. I knew that this bad boy had to travel to the Big Apple ever since she posted about it, but now I’m not sure if I’ll send it back to the orange state. (Okay I will, relax!). The color is an amazing vibrant purple and is not like any other I have seen.

Barielle Shades Sweet Addiction Barielle Shades Sweet Addiction
Shades by Barielle, in Sweet Addiction
Such a pleasant green, that I’m ssssweetly addicted. :)~ Yet another win win from Shades by Barielle. I’m not sure what had my nail lumpy in the picture without flash, but it seemed to have gone away with flash. The green though? Super minty and melon-y. Just enough bright to be reminiscent of warmer weather, but appropriate still to be fashionably forward in the office.

And now this… is just a tease of polishes to come. My other Bloggin’ compadre, over from VampyVarnish posted about these polishes not found in the US, and I was so enamored that I scampered over to eBay to get them right away. I used my Ebates account when doing so, so I already got money back for my purchase, but the polishes are reward enough themselves!

Week of Nights Out

This week is a surefire week to get your pockets thinning. As Halloween threatens it’s sugary tricks and treats with the October dates ticking away, companies are putting together various events as the last hurrah before shoppers begin to hibernate and order online through the chilly weather.

I’ll be at most of these events, and I’m sharing witcha, because it’d be great to see you too!

All of you non-NY bunnies, don’t you fear! The first two events are available in various cities across the US, so just click on the image to see which is closest to you, and when!

Floridian Adventures

PhotobucketRemember when I was traveling south to the state of Florida? Well I got some travel photos for ya!

I always love staying with locals when traveling, because I feel like there is no book or guide that will show you the city like a local can. I try to make that a fact when people visit NY, and my girl Brit from ClumpsofMascara did not disappoint either! She had the double duty of showing me Miami and Orlando, and between the Artist Summit and my freak catch of a cold, she had her job cut out for her.

Being a city gal, I’m not used to certain things. City gal might have been an understatement – being a NY gal, I’m not used to quiet streets, having to drive to stores, and worst of all not having things open until all hours of the night. (Yes my city has spoiled me – suck it up!). I’m sure all my comments might have gotten on B’s Southern nerves… but I wasn’t kicked out of a car or a house the whole time, so it was a success!

Nail Challenge – Continued

PhotobucketLast time I posted a new mani, I was shouting all loud and such about my nail challenge. How I wanted to utilize my extensive collection and somehow make my money well spent after all these years and unnecessary purchases. And then it got really quiet. Well I wasn’t slacking my dear readers. I was merely collecting them because I had a fear that y’all would cuss me out real tender for posting a NOTD every day in addition to regular posts.

I took to a lot of new purchases to showcase this week. My nails have also started revolting, so you will notice that the sizing is a bit different in some. This is either because the hands posing are different sides, or that I lost the war of the growing fingernail at the moment.

A post will be coming up soon about nail care and how to extend the life and length of such, but until then, enjoy the colors!

No, It’s a Rental

PhotobucketIt’s a true change in times when anyone can afford a $8000 handbag. Or at least think of purchasing it. The idea of said purchase is no longer left to the well off and hoity toity :). Interns at fashion publications sport the same luxury brand stunners on their arms, and feet as their superiors (not to mention paid superiors).

Some of it may be blamed on us turning into a material society. Where we live too much in the moment and care too much about brands and quantity.

But it can also refer to our penchant to rent. When I was conceiving this post in my mind, I started a week long research project online about rentals, and was surprised to see how many I found. Continue reading to see the highlights of my search, and let me know if you know of some I didn’t.

Enter the courtroom:

formerly known as Bag Borrow or Steal

another site where you can rent handbags

yet another site where you can rent bags

where renting shoes is just as easily done as with bags – founded by Kim Kardashian

completing your outfit with the borrowed accessories

But what are you without the clothes?

finally – a complete outfit to solve the Emperor’s dilemma

I honestly, haven’t tried to use any rental services for anything (not even a car!). Tell me about your experiences. Have you tried any of these websites, or in person stores? Do you plan to? Know someone who has?
